HIGH PROFILE CASES
The most notable high profile case to date was a court appointment in Polk County, Texas, to investigate for the defense during an Appeal on a 1979 capital murder conviction of Johnny Paul Penry. Mr. Penry has been on death row since 1979. Mobley Investigations performed over 250 witness locates and 200 background investigations on potential witnesses and jurors for this case. Mobley Investigations also served over 70 subpoenas, interviewed over 150 witnesses and potential witnesses, interviewed jurors and law enforcement personnel. The witness locates alone in this case encompassed five states. Some of the witnesses located and interviewed were from Mr. Penry’s childhood almost 40 years prior. Mobley Investigations was tasked with finding anyone in Mr. Penry’s childhood who could support his mental retardation argument in court. Additionally, several prior criminal cases were investigated during the background investigation of the state’s witnesses in this case. Complete backgrounds were performed on all twelve jurors. This involved working with the jury consultant for the defense extensively.
